THE KRUSE DUO PLAYS HANDEL, MOZART, RAGS, AND MUCH MORE ON THE FINAL CONCERT OF CHAMBER MUSIC TOLEDO’S 2009-2010 ARTIST SERIES

The Kruse Duo explores a wide range and appealing blend of music written for violin and viola on the fourth and final concert of Chamber Music Toledo’s 2009-2010 Artist Series, Sunday May 16th at 3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 200 E. Broadway Street in Maumee.

Since its founding in 1990, the Kruse Duo (violinist Penny Thompson Kruse and violist Steven Kruse), has gained a reputation as an exciting chamber ensemble, exploring the rich literature and sonoric possibilities for violin and viola. The Kruse Duo has performed on four continents, appearing as soloists with numerous orchestras in the United States, Vietnam, and Romania. Performing on matching instruments made by the famed Carl Becker family of Chicago, the Kruses are known for their unique blend and oneness of musical expression.

The program features music from the Baroque Era to the present day, including Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Duo in G Major,” George Frederic Handel’s “Chaconne in G Major,” David Maslanka’s “Montana Music: Fantasy on a Chorale Tune,” Eight Duets by Reinhold Glière, and Three Rags for Violin and Viola by William Ryden.
